Let's start with THE BASICS

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting® is a fat-freezing procedure that destroys fat cells in different areas around the body. Whether you’re looking to enhance your body shape, get rid of stubborn fat, or just look and feel comfortable in your clothes again, CoolSculpting® could be the answer! Want to read more about what you need to know before starting your very own CoolSculpting journey?

What should you expect for your first visit?

Some patients feel uneasy when they first come to our clinic, but you needn't worry! In this blog post, we talk about what your complimentary consultation will look like! This is  a chance to come meet the team, learn more about CoolSculpting® and see if it is a good fit for you!

How does it feel?

Most patients do not report that CoolSculpting is painful. What we do find is that the first few minutes of the treatment can be a bit uncomfortable while the applicator is coming down to temperature to kill the fat cells.  That discomfort usually turns into a cold numb sensation that typically remains for the duration of the treatment.  Also, once the applicator is removed, there can be some discomfort when the nerves of the skin are “waking up.” And, the area could be sore for a few days after, but usually, that subsides soon after. So basically, there are a few parts of the treatment that might be somewhat uncomfortable, but nothing that you can’t handle.

There are so many MYTHS out there of the CoolSculpting procedure, we DEBUNKED them. Read more about those in our blog.

How long are the treatments?

This again depends on the area or areas you are treating. What we can tell you is the average time invested in each area goes from 35 to 60 minutes. Faster, comfier and cooler than a surgery recovery, right?

How many treatments will I need?

Since each CoolSculpting journey is designed specifically for each body, lifestyle and particular goals, the number of treatments varies widely. During your complimentary consultation, you’ll get to set dates according to your personal goals and together we will work to design the best treatment plan for you. But speaking in general terms, patients receive 1-3 CoolSculpting® treatment sessions in each area treated. The amount of treatments needed depends on the results you want and the number of areas being treated.

How long until I see results?

Since your fat cells are frozen and killed, your body takes time to naturally get rid of these dead cells. This progress takes about 90 days, or three months. In some cases, you will see a reduction in fat within a few weeks. But don’t worry, the results will be there and totally worth it.

Are there any side effects?

During a CoolSculpting procedure, we’ll place an applicator on the part of the body that we are treating- this applicator uses suction to bring the fat into the cooling cup. As a result, you might experience a little tugging, stinging, or aching at the treatment site for a couple of minutes. However, once you are done, aside from feeling a bit sore (kind of like after exercising),  temporary redness or swelling, there are no side effects that you should be concerned about.

Would I feel cold during the treatment?

Well… this is a COOL procedure!. You’ll be exposed to cold temperatures to freeze the fat cells and destroy them for good. However, this cold is localized so it typically does not make your whole body feel cold. If you do start to feel cold, we’ve got everything you need to stay cozy- robes, blankets and hot coffee or tea!

Can I have CoolSculpting on my mommy pouch after birth?

Even though doctors suggest you wait for three months after pregnancy before getting CoolSculpting, the answer is, YES MOMMA! Pregnant women are not qualified for CoolSculpting, but the treatment is effective and safe after giving birth to help fix post-pregnancy belly bump, and won't affect the next pregnancy in any way. If you had a c-section, a little more waiting might be needed. However, we encourage you to come for a complimentary consultation so we can get your journey and timeline started!

Should I follow a specific diet after my treatment?

There is not a specific food regimen to follow after CoolSculpting, regardless, we strongly recommend adding healthy eating habits or some light exercise to achieve the best possible results and to maintain good overall health. It all depends on your lifestyle, your goals, and your own journey!

Is it covered by insurance?

CoolSculpting is an aesthetic treatment. Unfortunately, cosmetic treatments  aren’t covered by insurance. You can ask your provider about any discounts and payment plans they may offer to help offset the costs of your treatment.
