You may have heard about CoolSculpting and maybe even have read some things that don’t accurately describe what CoolSculpting is and how it works. So we are here to give it to you straight and dispel the 5 most common CoolSculpting Myths.

Myth #1: I heard CoolSculpting Hurts a lot

Most patients do not report that CoolSculpting is painful.  What we do find is that the first few minutes of the treatment can be slightly uncomfortable while the applicator is coming down to temperature to kill the fat cells.  That discomfort usually turns into a cold numb sensation that typically remains for the duration of the treatment.  Also, once the applicator is removed there can be some discomfort when the nerves of the skin are “waking up.” And, the area could be sore for a few days after, but usually, that subsides too.  So basically, there are a few parts of the treatment that are uncomfortable, but nothing that you can’t handle.

Myth #2: I heard the results were not permanent

That is not true - CoolSculpting does produce permanent results. Once the fat cells are frozen and die, they are then naturally eliminated from the body.  So those fat cells are gone - forever.  As long as you maintain your healthy diet and lifestyle, your results will remain consistent.

Myth #3: I heard the fat just goes somewhere else

No, the dead fat cells are eliminated naturally through the lymphatic system. But again, it is important to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle to maintain your results.

Myth #4: I heard CoolSculpting Treatments Require Recovery Time

One thing that most of my patients are excited to hear is that after a CoolSculpting treatment, there are no physical restrictions.  Many of our patients go right back to work and their normal activities.

Myth #5: CoolSculpting Provides Immediate Results

Unfortunately, this is not true.  As mentioned in Myth 2 and 3, after the fat cells are killed during the CoolSculpting treatment, they are eliminated naturally. It does take the body anywhere from 8-12 weeks to fully eliminate the cells.  This is a natural process which helps to give the natural looking body contouring results that our CoolSculpting patients have come to love!
